Excuse the single-mindedness; that's true of Compound bows.

Traditional bows - the Englishman Neil Harrington is probably the finest Longbow craftsman in existence; but there are many I have yet to meet. Neil builds a bow like a tailored suit using ONLY the original materials from ancient history - engineered to tolerances you would expect from Rolls-Royce... I've not met another bow-maker who will produce a high-poundage Longbow, and guarantee it for the life of the Archer...
Recurve bows are made all over the world - but notably the US manufacturers Hoyt have the greatest record of success - closely followed by some of the Korean factories.

Best place to start would be thearcherycompany.com - useful info throughout, then go to their Links page. Every Society and Archery governing body in the UK - with access to Club Names, Secretaries, Styles and Specifications

Agreed - but others are more accurate and every WELL-MADE bow is worth cherishing and protecting. No matter what we shoot, we need to be united so that the ignorance and irrationality that destroyed Britain's full-bore pistol and rifle clubs will never touch Archers and Archery.

Without the Bow (and the Welsh), there would be no England...

The only place with ALL the time, knowledge, safety thinking and REAL value for money - bar none - is The Archery Company.
Tony Weston is the owner, and (more than once) English, Welsh, Scottish, UK, European, South African (and more) Field Archery Champion.
He will also be at the American Trade Show for a week and a bit - but his website and assistants can be found at thearcherycompany.com or 01767 262533

Good for you, Tracy! I used to have a proper job- until I discovered Archery...!
The weather and our U.S. trip will slow things until about early/mid Feb. Would recommend you and some friends/family come and have a day or half-day with us. We take you through Target Archery basics with a choice of bows and arrow weights - then off into the woods to "hunt" dinosaurs...
Addictive and fun and HEALTHY stuff.

Indeed yes. We will be at Bewl Water and other locations soon - the weather has slowed down our site checking and we head to the U.S. ATA (Archery Trade) Show for 9 days tomorrow.
Will know more by mid-February.
